The Triple D

Because I am young and stupid, this weekend I am hiking…duhn duhn duhn…the TRIPLE D! First heard whispered as fantasy, then talked about as legend, I am now actually attemping it myself. In the Columbia River Gorge there are three high points that begin with D…Dog Mountain, Mt. Defiance, and Devil’s Rest. To hike all three of them in a day adds up to 24.2 miles and 10,250 ft of elevation gain. Mt. Hood only requires 5,000 ft, and Mt. Rainier requires 9,000 ft (but is only attempted in a day by people crazier than me…altho I may get crazier in my old age). The most I’ve done in a day is probably the 6200′ it takes to get up Mt. Adams. I’ve been sick lately so I’m not in the best of shape but whatever.  It’ll make my hood climb the following weekend seem like a walk in the park.

FUN. TIMES.
